Our church gathers for worship every Sunday morning at Palmetto Family Orthodontics from 10:30-11:45am. This is the principal gathering of our church every week, and we understand this corporate gathering of God’s people to be a primary calling for every Christian. As such, these worship services are the highlight of our week!
We have a team of volunteers who arrive around 9:00am to transform PFO’s “Upper Room” into a meeting space for worship. Our services are very simple with a focus on God’s Word being proclaimed, sung, prayed, preached, and confessed. We have blended worship music that includes traditional hymns, hymns with newer tunes, contemporary Christian music, and psalms. But while the style of each song might be slightly different, one thing is not. We make a concerted effort to focus on the words of each song. Of course, they should be consistent with the Bible, but we also aim for them to flow with the entire worship service.
We also have a downstairs option during worship as well. This is where we have our nursery option. Additionally, there is seating available for anyone who is unable to navigate the stairs. There is an HD real-time transmission of the worship service that is shown on the television screen. Everyone downstairs is just as much a part of our worship service as those upstairs.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the final Sunday of every month, but we do have a focus on the Lord’s Supper every week. This is because we highlight some element of the Lord’s Supper (i.e. Affirmation of Faith or Confession of Sin) every Sunday in preparation for communion at the end of the month.
We have a number of people who arrive early or hang around afterward and enjoy coffee downstairs. This time of fellowship has been important for our church as we are continuing to grow as a church body. And if you would like to read more about how our young church began to have weekly worship services, click here to read the final chapter of the “Our Story” blog series detailing how our church came to exist.
We hope to see you one Sunday morning for worship at Village Presbyterian!
Cascades Worship Service
Each month our church provides a worship service at the Cascades Verdae, a retirement community just down the street from us. This service takes place from 9:30-10:25am on the third Sunday every month. We then run our normal worship service at Palmetto Family Orthodontics from 10:30-11:45am. It is quite the transition from 10:25-10:30 as we change locations!
The format of our worship services is slightly different from our weekly services at PFO. The music consists of all traditional hymns, and the setting is a formal ballroom. However, the content of the service is essentially the same – from the call to worship, to the sermon, and all the way through the benediction. In essence, we have two services on these third Sundays with just slightly different formats!
The story behind our involvement with the Cascades truly reflects God’s provision, and you can read more about it in this blog from our blog series titled “Our Story.” The regular attendees at our Cascades worship services have been with our church plant, in many ways, since the very beginning. They pray for us constantly, ask questions about our growth, and always offer encouragement. Third Sundays are indeed special Sundays for Village Presbyterian Church.
Visitors are always welcome at the Cascades worship services, and we would encourage everyone associated with Village Presbyterian to attend a Cascades worship service sometime. There is such an authenticity and excitement in these worship services that it would be right to see these gatherings as an extension of our church body.
We hope that you might find your way early one third Sunday to the Cascades for worship!
Tuesday Night Bible Study
One of the first places many people choose to connect with our church is in our Tuesday Night Bible Study. This study takes place most Tuesday nights at Palmetto Family Orthodontics. We serve dinner each week, free of charge, at 6:30pm. We then transition into a time of study from 7:00-8:00. Anyone is invited to attend, and our group looks different almost every Tuesday night.
Our studies each week cover a variety of topics. Usually we have a theme that will carry us through a 3-week, 4-week, or 5-week period of time. However, while we may have a theme for a few weeks, we do make sure that every Tuesday night study can stand on its own. This is because we know that Tuesdays are hard to commit to every single week. So do not worry that you might be jumping in during the middle of a series. We design it so that you can!
Also, our Tuesday Night Bible Study is set up especially for people who haven’t been a part of a study like this before. These are interactive studies that invite questions and comments as we all aim to understand accurately what God has given us in His Word. This means that some weeks the discussions can be more theological while other weeks they may focus on more practical matters. Usually, it is a mix of both!
You can check our Facebook page announcements each Tuesday to see what that night’s topic will be. You can also click here to read a blog post from the “Our Story” blog series that tells about how these Tuesday nights studies began.
We hope to see you one Tuesday night soon!
